If you had 38.6 g S, how many g of the product could you theoretically obtain?
Step 1: Calculate the number ofmols of S
38.6gS x 1mol S/32.07gS=1.02 mol S
Here is where I get lost:
from the stoichiometric relationship of the S and product in the balanced equations calculate the number of mols of product that theoretically can be obtained (need to know how to convert mols of product to grams of product ) and I know the molar mass is 32.07g/mol on sulfurPlease help... I am horrible at Chemistry and need some to explain to me how to answer this question...?

Do you have the balanced equation?!?!
Basically (quick simple answer), with the supplied figures you know that you have 1.2mol of S so therefore you can work out how many moles of product can be made! Then you work out the molecular mass of the product and just multiply the two together :-)
So, lets say for instance that the product is Copper (II) Sulphate - CuSO4....
In the product there is just one atom of Sulphur, so in the balanced equation you will produce 1.02mol of CuSO4. The molecular mass of CuSO4 is 159.61 so therefore the mass of product made will be 1.02 x 159.61!
But, lets say for instance the product is Disulphur Dichloride - S2Cl2....
In the product there are two atoms of Sulphur, so in teh balanced equation you will produce 0.51mol (1.02 / 2) of S2Cl2. The molecular mass of S2Cl2 is 135.04 so therefore the mass of product made will be 0.51 x 135.04!
